PRACTICE AREAS - MILITARY LAW - UNIFORMED SERVICES EMPLOYMENT AND REEMPLOYMENT RIGHTS ACT

Civilian Employment Protections for Service Members

Picture of Marines sitting in five ton. Typical Marines.
If you're a service member that will be or has been deployed on active orders or performed other military service that requires time away from your civilian job for no more than five cumulative years, and you work for a qualifying employer, your employer must either hold your job for you, or rehire you to a comparable job upon your return. You have an obligation to timely report back to work. The timing depends on the length of your service. You're also entitled to any raises or bonuses that you would have otherwise received if you would have remained employed.
Employers who are found in violation of the law can be forced to pay wages for missed work time and additional amounts in punitive damages.

If you feel that your employer is not following the law, please call our office, or schedule a consultation by clicking on the black button below.
