Your Child's Rights
Kids make mistakes. Part of the natural learning process for some students may involve experiencing the consequences of poor choices. But, there are also times where a child is simply a victim of circumstance; in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It's in these moments especially that you and they should have a clear understanding of their rights, and the school's responsibilities regarding how, when, and even if discipline is imposed. While students in education settings don't enjoy the full level of due process that adults do, you and they still have rights and requirements that must be met before a student can be suspended or expelled.
