Grandparents' Rights
|
Third Party Intervention, sometimes referred to as Grandparents' Rights, permits a non-parent to get custody or visitation of a minor. A third party, meaning not mom or dad, can ask the court for time with the child(ren). This could be a request to be a legal custodian or a request to exercise grandparent rights and visitation. If parents are married, the case is heard in Domestic Relations court. If the parents were never married, the case is heard in juvenile court.
