Custody
|
Custody is often established as part of a divorce or dissolution. There are other times where a custody determination or change in circumstances may come into play.
Post Decree After a final judgment entry for a termination of marriage, the court will retain jurisdiction to enforce or change any issues that pertain to the children. Custody issues can be revisited at any time before a child is emancipated. Establishment of Parental Rights An unmarried father has to file within the court to establish the parent-child relationship to ask for parenting time, the ability to make decisions on behalf of the child, and for information about the child. The mother can consent or object. Paying child support does not guarantee visitation time. A filing in the court is still required for parenting time. If the parents are unmarried, the mother, per Ohio law, is the primary and sole custodian of the child. |
